A ground survey by a committee of four experts from state-run Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University has revealed that Joshimath has cracks up to “2 feet wide and half-a-km long”. This is the first time that government officials have publicly disclosed the dimensions of the cracks, thereby revealing the vulnerability of the area.
